Honest comparison
Nerd Prescribed vs hiring freelancers — one person vs five who never talk to each other.
Freelancers are specialists. For some projects that is exactly what you need. For most solopreneur sites — design plus development plus SEO plus copy plus maintenance — coordinating a team of specialists costs more time than money.
What this comparison covers.
A comparison of managing individual freelancers (separate designer, developer, copywriter, SEO specialist) versus Nerd Prescribed, which handles all of those functions in one engagement. Covers coordination cost, accountability, ongoing maintenance, and total project cost.
Who it's for.
Solopreneurs deciding whether to build a freelancer team for their website or work with a single full-stack specialist.
What it costs.
Individual freelancer rates: designer €40–€120/hr, developer €50–€150/hr, SEO specialist €60–€120/hr, copywriter €50–€100/hr. Nerd Prescribed bundles everything: one-page site from €900, SPA from €3,000, all-in. Optional €500/mo care plan.
Bottom line.
If you need a single specialist for one defined task and have the project management bandwidth to coordinate them, freelancers work. If the last thing you want is to be the project manager for your own website, I handle that role.
Freelancer
Hiring individual freelancers makes sense when…
You need one specific skill for one defined task
A logo refresh, a single landing page in a stack you already run, or a one-off SEO audit — a specialist freelancer with a narrow brief is efficient and cost-effective.
You already have a project manager or in-house coordinator
If you have someone whose job is to manage the brief, coordinate handoffs, and chase deliverables, the specialist freelancer model can work well with proper management in place.
You have a very large budget and want the best specialist in each domain
The best UI designer, the best copywriter, and the best developer may all be different people. If you have the budget and coordination capacity to hire the best individually, a specialist team can produce excellent results.
Custom build
Pick Nerd Prescribed when…
You are the founder — not a project manager
Every time you brief a freelancer, chase a deliverable, explain context to the next person, or reconcile a handoff gap, you are spending founder time on coordination. That is a hidden cost that rarely shows up in the invoice.
You have been burned by someone disappearing
Freelancers finish the build and move on. The site breaks six months later and the person who knows the code is unreachable. The care plan means I stay accountable — same person, same code, same contact.
Design and code need to be in the same head
When the designer hands off to the developer, something always gets lost in translation — a spacing decision, an animation intent, a mobile edge case. I design and build, so those decisions are never divided.
You want SEO baked in, not added as an afterthought
When SEO is a separate freelancer engaged after launch, it becomes retrofit work — re-architecting URLs, adding schema that fights the existing structure, patching performance. I build with SEO in from line one.
Maintenance needs one accountable contact
Who is responsible when the site breaks at 11pm before a launch? With a freelancer team, that question has no clear answer. With me, it does.

Common questions
Are you actually as good as specialists in each discipline?
Honest answer: I am very good at custom Next.js development, technical SEO, and web copy. I am a competent designer with a clear aesthetic — not a brand identity specialist. If you need a logo designed from scratch or a full brand system, a dedicated designer is the right call for that piece. For everything that makes a website work and rank, I cover it.
I have a designer I love. Can I work with them and use you for development only?
Yes — I am happy to build from a Figma file. If you have a designer relationship you trust, bring them in for the visual design phase and hand off to me for development. That is a common arrangement and works well when the Figma file is detailed.
What if I need a specialist skill you do not have?
I will tell you before you pay a deposit. I know my limits and I do not pretend otherwise. If a piece of a project needs a specialist I cannot cover well — advanced motion design, native app development, a specific integration — I say so up front.
How do I know you will not disappear after launch too?
The care plan is the structural answer: a Stripe subscription that continues month-to-month, where I have a financial incentive to be reachable and to keep the site running. You can cancel any time — but the ongoing relationship is the model, not the exception.
Can you work with my existing freelance team if I already have one?
Yes — if you have a designer or copywriter you work with regularly, I can fit into that workflow as the developer and technical lead. I have worked alongside other freelancers on shared projects before. The key requirement is a clear scope boundary so nobody is surprised.
