Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before working with me. If your question isn't here, send it in writing — I reply within one business day.
Pricing & Timeline
- How much does a custom Next.js website cost?
- A base site (landing page + contact form) starts at €3,000. Add-ons — authentication, booking, e-commerce, SEO, animations — stack on top at fixed prices. Most founder-led sites land between €3,000 and €8,000. The full modular pricing table is at /start.
- How long does a build take?
- Most sites are live within 5–7 business days of receiving your completed brief. Complex builds with e-commerce or SaaS features take 2–4 weeks. Timeline is fixed at the quote stage.
- Do I need to buy a domain name separately?
- Yes — domain registration (typically €12–€20/year) is not included in the build price. I'll point you to a registrar after checkout if you don't already have one.
- What does the monthly care plan include?
- Two care plans — Foundation (€350/mo) and Nerd Preferred (€650/mo) — cover hosting, security patches, backups, uptime monitoring, and fixes. See /care-plan for the full feature split. Edit requests are handled within one business day. There's no minimum term — cancel any time.
- Can I add features after the site launches?
- Yes. Any add-on — booking system, e-commerce, authentication, SaaS features — can be scoped and quoted as a separate project once your base site is live.
Process & Communication
- What do I need to provide to get started?
- After checkout you fill in a short written brief — your business name, what you do, your location, and a few style preferences. I write the copy for you. No kickoff call required.
- Do I need to provide the copy for my website?
- No. Copywriting is included when you add it as an option. After checkout I send a brief form with questions about your business, audience, and goals. That's all I need to write the page.
- What if I don't like the design?
- Every build includes two rounds of revisions. You leave written feedback — I adjust until you're satisfied. No live calls needed.
- Do you work with clients outside Ireland?
- Yes — fully remote and async. I work with clients in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and across Europe. Time zone differences haven't been an issue because everything is written, not live.
- What happens to my site if I cancel the care plan?
- You own the site outright. I hand over the full source code, hosting access, domain credentials, database export, and any third-party logins. No exit fees, no data held back.
Technology & SEO
- What technology stack do you use?
- Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Prisma, and PostgreSQL (Neon). No WordPress, no Webflow, no page builders. Every site is custom-coded from scratch.
- Do you build WordPress sites?
- No. I build on Next.js exclusively. It's faster, more secure, and more maintainable than WordPress for the kind of custom, dynamic sites founders actually need.
- What's the difference between SEO and AEO?
- SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) targets traditional Google rankings. AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) targets AI-assisted search tools — Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, ChatGPT. Both rely on fast sites and well-structured content; I build both in from day one.
- Is SEO included in a standard website build?
- A technical baseline is included in every build: structured data, sitemap, canonical URLs, metadata, and Core Web Vitals optimisation. A full SEO strategy — keyword research, content planning, ongoing monitoring — is a separate add-on from €1,500.
- Will my site pass Core Web Vitals?
- Yes. Next.js on Vercel scores 90+ on Lighthouse mobile by default. I tune every build for LCP, CLS, and INP before handing over.
Care Plan & Support
- How is the care plan different from just buying hosting?
- Hosting is a server. The care plan is a person — one who knows your code, patches it when vulnerabilities appear, fixes it when it breaks, and makes the edits you ask for. Vercel doesn't know your codebase. I do.
- How quickly do you respond to support requests?
- Edit requests: within one business day. Emergency fixes (site down, payment broken): within a few hours during European working hours (UTC+0/+1). All responses are written — no calls.
- Do I need a Nerd Prescribed-built site to take the care plan?
- Yes. The care plan is for sites I built — that's what makes it possible to guarantee I know the code, the stack, and the hosting setup. I don't take on maintenance for sites built elsewhere.
